A Canadian Industrial Legacy Since 1947

Herculock began in Niagara Falls in 1947 with one purpose: keep critical equipment running by repairing cast iron components that would otherwise require costly replacement. Over the next 75 years, Herculock became Canada’s original specialists in cold cast iron repair, metal locking, metal stitching, and babbitt bearing work. Our team earned a reputation for solving the repair challenges that others would not attempt.

Thousands of cracked housings, gear cases, press frames, crusher parts, and OEM components have passed through our doors. Many were restored to full service in far less time, and at far less cost, than fabricating or purchasing new castings.

The Herculock Method

Herculock’s signature repair method, often called metal locking or metal stitching, is a precision cold process. It mechanically bonds fractured cast iron without introducing heat. That means no warping, no shrinkage, and no thermal stress.

The process involves cutting out irreparable sections, drilling and connecting precision slots along the break, inserting custom locking elements, and lacing the repair with tensioned bolts to restore structural integrity. Surfaces are then blended or machined as required, followed by inspection using dye penetrant or magnetic particle testing.

This process remains the preferred solution when a component cannot be welded, when downtime is critical, or when OEM replacements are weeks or months away.
