Herculock locking or metal stitching on a locomotive wheel

Having fun going through Herculock’s archives and wanted to share this – a photo of a Herculock metal stitching repair to a steam locomotive wheel. A great visual of just how strong and reliable locking is.

 

Sure it’s old technology”….. but so is the wheel. Cold cast iron repair by stitching is the still best technique to use for many repairs.
